Colorado Adventure
Some road trips are about adventure, some about exploration—but this one was about remembrance. For Ken Hoeve, co-founder of FLATED®, a recent journey through Colorado wasn’t just another adventure, it was a tribute to a late friend and the places that held their best memories together.
Camping in the Colorado Wilderness
The trip began where so many of their shared stories had started—in the Colorado wilderness. With his truck outfitted and the Air-Topper® ready for camp, Ken set up under the stars, surrounded by the quiet beauty of pine forests and mountain air. Camping here wasn’t just about comfort—it was about reconnecting with a place that had witnessed countless nights of laughter and friendship.
Kayak Adventures & Floating the Colorado River
From the campsite, Ken took to the water, paddling out on a kayak adventure that brought back vivid memories of the times he and his friend spent chasing rivers together. The highlight of the trip came with a day of floating and fishing on the Colorado River, joined by a close companion who made the moment even more meaningful. The rhythm of the river, the cast of the line, and the quiet between conversations all blended into a day that felt both healing and celebratory.
Crested Butte: A Place of Beauty and Reflection
Next stop: Crested Butte, a mountain town filled with charm, trails, and landscapes that can only be described as iconic Colorado. For Ken, it was more than just a scenic stop—it was a place full of memories, a reminder of adventures past, and a chance to reflect on how those moments had shaped both his friendships and his love for the outdoors.
Oh Be Joyful Creek
The trip concluded at Oh Be Joyful Creek, a destination as beautiful as its name. Surrounded by rushing water and stunning mountain views, Ken found peace in a spot that symbolized joy, connection, and the enduring power of nature to comfort and inspire. It was the perfect final chapter to a roadtrip rooted in remembrance.
More Than a Roadtrip
This Colorado journey was more than miles driven and places visited—it was a tribute, a way to honor a life and a friendship through the places that meant the most. With each stop, Ken carried the spirit of his friend with him, proving that road trips aren’t just about the destination—they’re about the memories we keep alive along the way.
