The
FLATED® Inflatable Back Window is the upgrade your
Air-Topper® Mid-Rise (MR). Designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing Air-Topper window flaps, it attaches cleanly—no complicated mods, no extra hardware headaches. At the core is a rigid inflatable chamber built with our signature structural Drop Stitch material, transforming the flexible rear flap into a back window that looks, feels, and functions more like a traditional hardshell. You get the lightweight, roll-up convenience FLATED is known for—without sacrificing that solid, confidence-inspiring rear access.
Built for real-world use, this window adapts as fast as your plans do. The exterior removable tinted vinyl panel provides clear rear visibility while shielding your gear from harsh sun, wind, and weather. When airflow is the priority, simply remove the vinyl to reveal the removable interior screen. The mesh layer keeps bugs out and fresh air moving, making it perfect for truck-bed camping, tailgates, beach days, or road trips with the crew (and the dog). It’s climate control—FLATED style.
Security matters, especially when adventure takes you off the grid. That’s why the base of the window features two reinforced D-Rings that gives you the option to lock directly to your Air-Topper, securing the rear access point and helping deter unwanted entry. Whether you’re parked at a trailhead, campsite, or jobsite, you can step away with confidence.
The result? Hardshell-inspired stability. Adjustable ventilation. Lockable security. All in a compact, inflatable system that deflates and stores when you don’t need it.
Simple. Structural. Ready for wherever the road goes next.
So im pre-ordering mine now. But almost a year ago when I ordered and used my cap itself, my one complaint was it should be an inflated panel on the back as well. And boom now you have one. Youre welcome for the idea.
The new window design has been a huge upgrade so far. Really the only negative I have to say about it is how it fits. My original back window was an MR64 so I ordered the same in the new design. When I went to put it on it did not fit. The new design was too small for my truck. So I ended up contacting support and they sent me out the MR66 instead. It fits a lot better. The length is still off by an inch or so but I was able to adjust it to where it fits pretty good now. Overall the design is hands down better than the original. And as always the customer support has been amazing from Flated. By far the best customer support that I have ever dealt with.
It's like you were on my last camping trip. Everyone asked about the Flated topper and my only negative comment about it was the rear " flap". It covered the camera unless you folded it out of the way. Then you neded automotive anti scratch tape to protect the paint from the velcro strap.
Now, it's a proper topper for my truck.
This is well worth the price,Fit really well, the extension strip lets you have that little bit of adjustment to fit your tailgate for very little dust coming in,I’ve had other topper aluminum and fiberglass that really don’t seal any better.Great product!!!!
Wonder window. The customer service is great. The shim between the window and the topper could be about 3/4 - 1 inch wider to get a better fit, but the overall product is great.
More practical daily usage than the rear window that came originally. Easier to enter and exit the back. As I installed it on a Friday I was having trouble making it fit. Monday in the mail arrives a velcro strip that fixes the problem.
Just put it on this morning. Im an 83 year old woman. Getting the old one off was the first task. I used the little plastic knife thingy that came with my cap to free the velcro. The new cap went on very easily with little adjustment needed. It seemed a wee bit roomier than the old one.. I then blew it up and every thing fitted fine. It is shorte than the old one it sits on top of my tailgate. But as it doesn't use the velcro strap so that's ok. I'm a tinkerer and feel that because it has no central tie down it might flap around a bit when driving. I will fix that issue for myself. Also I wonder about water getting in as its on top not over the tail gate. Im in Ca. So not much water here. Lol. But I wonder about dust. All in all a well build heavy duty improvement on the old window. I Love I can open it to a screen. Next a road trip to try it out. Thank you.
My topper is the MR66 and this air window is close, but not quite. Yes, big improvement over the standard one, but it still needs some fitment adjustments. Absolutely must use the velcro extender strip or it is ~2"shy height-wise. The securing side flaps are too wide, but the inflated part is a bit narrow - which is good if you're inside and you need finger room to unzip it. Speaking of which, there is a "D" ring on each bottom corner, it would be nice to have one similarly placed on the topper to allow a lock for some minor security.
Because the topper is a bit long for my bed, it makes the whole rear tailgate seal tenuous with gaps in the bottom corners. I haven't had it leak yet, and it has been through some serious downpours sitting still. We'll see what happens when I hit a downpour at 65-70mph. Bottom line, I'd still recommend it, but hope there are some good v2 improvements.
I really wanted to like the FLATED MR66 because it’s a great idea and it’s much easier to store than a traditional topper. Unfortunately, it doesn’t fit the F250 6.5 bed as advertised. After a full year of use the rear window dry rotted. This design left deep scratches in my paint from the Velcro strap on the back tailgate. After I switched to the new Air-Window design, that’s when my problems started with the unzipping.
The biggest issues are the rear window unzipping and the topper’s drip edges not going all the way around the bed. At highway speeds, Air-Window would slowly unzip on its own. About every 100 to 150 miles I had to pull over, zip it back up, and keep going. It happened consistently enough that I started expecting it. I never had this issue until the new Air-Window was added, so I believe that’s what caused the problem.
The new Air-Window also didn’t seem to fit as well as the original design. It was shorter than the rest of the topper, and the inflatable material was noticeably thinner. It made that entire section look and feel different, and it didn’t seem to handle highway driving nearly as well.
I still think FLATED has a great concept, and there are a lot of things I like about the topper. But the new Air-Window design created more problems than it solved in my experience. Between the rear window repeatedly unzipping on the interstate and the poor fit of the new Air-Window, I can’t recommend this version for anyone who spends much time on the highway. I hope FLATED goes back to the original design or comes up with a better solution because the product has a lot of potential.
There needs to be a better was to secure the outer lip of the Air Window to keep the water from running down the back and into the bed of the truck.
