Great topper. Lots of room and durable. I needed to use my existing tonneau cover rails and brackets to use the middle cam straps and anchor points but it’s snug and doesn’t move or flap at highway speeds. Got the 3rd brake light set up too.
I love this topper! Lightweight yet strong and durable. Easy to install (less than an hour and a one-person job) and the price was VERY right. Everything about my purchase and the product itself has been awesome. The first topper came with a small leak in the roof chamber, after talking with your customer service representative Joe, it was determined to be a manufactures defect and Joe expedited a new topper completely covered under the warranty. Joe was very responsive and easy to work with; he definitely earned Five stars!! Thanks for your help, Joe!! The new one is performing great! Based on our overall experience, we are looking at purchasing a FLATED cargo box for my wife's 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness edition.
I needed a way to haul two recumbent trikes on a long road trip. I wanted to add a bit of protection from the elements. In order to haul 2 trikes in my Honda Ridgeline, the tailgate must be down. I saw an ad for the Flated topper and thought it would work great with the bed extender. The pics are from the first time I loaded the trikes to see if I could also get the extender to fit along the back. It did! I love my Flated topper! I may try to find a way to cover the end of the trikes, but if I load them correctly, the pedal assist motors should be at the front of the topper and the trikes should be fine. I have only had it installed a few days and have gotten a lot of attention. Several people have asked me about it! I also bought the platform to use for camping. I am set to have some outdoor fun! Thanks!
As a Honda Ridgeline owner this is basically your only option to get a mid rise topper. So far it has lived up to virtually every promise and surpassed my expectations. Positives: Fits truck very well, simple to install, appears very durable. No effect on gas mileage, even though it is mid rise. Greatly enhances the functionality of the truck. Negatives: I have been looking at this product for more than a year but did not buy until now bc I knew that having to battle heavy velcro every time i wanted to open the tailgate window would drive me crazy. As soon as the air window came out, I purchased them both. The air window works absolutely as advertised and would strongly recommend to anyone who buys the Flated to also get it. IMO, Flated should discontinue old window and make the Air Window standard for all toppers they sell. Just to confirm i installed the original window and true to my suspicion i would not have been happy with how it attached to the tailgate (especially given Ridgeline's odd tailgate shape). One more consideration: all the windows/screens attach via velcro. The positive of this is it is very durable and more capable of handling the elements than zippers. While they attach very quickly, if you are on the OCD side, it may take several attempts at each one to get the fabric exactly lined up how you want it. The windows must also all be removed prior to folding up/storing it, which i did not realize before purchase. All in all I absolutely love it though. I planned on just throwing it on for outdoor adventure trips but the day to day functionality may cause me to leave it on full time. The only downside of day to day driving is it does, despite the windows, greatly reduce visibility via rearview mirror.
Put it together just to make sure everything works. Just as described. Put it back in a box on a shelf in the garage for storage. Going on a five week road trip out west. I figure at $100 per night for hotel costs, this camper will pay for itself in two weeks. A great return on investment. The flexibility to use my truck for other purposes without a camper enhances the versatility of this product. Also, I think the air allows for greater installation for camping in cold weather.
Recently installed and test-drove around town. I didn't notice any sound or vibration. Without having loaded up the bed, gone on a trip, nor encountered any inclement weather yet, I'd say this is an outstanding product. An issue I had with installation was related to temperature in the low 50s-high 40s decreasing pliability of the rain skirt for proper arrangement at the front near the cab, but that's not due to the product itself. The only point of dissatisfaction I have with this topper is the prevalence of Flated logos. I'm not getting a residual to advertise, so I would prefer to have very minimal badging, or at least make it removable. I absolutely do not like to draw attention to my vehicle due to QR codes on all the windows. You really should change that free marketing strategy before you face a class-action lawsuit.
I took the topper on a 5 day road trip two days after it arrived and slept in the back of my truck the whole trip. Easy inflation and easy install. In 20 hours of driving it didn't move at all. It did leak slightly in the front corners during a soaking 8 hour rain storm, but it was still pretty impressive. I don't really like the velcro strap on the tailgate. I wish there was a dedicated way to have the "back window" attach to the top to stay open, and the deflating took WAY longer than I was anticipating. Overall though, I love it and can't wait for my next trip!
I put the Flated topper on my Ridgeline about a week ago - by myself - and it was super easy. The only real downside I’ve noticed is that because of the Ridgeline’s unibody design, the flap around the bottom doesn’t sit cleanly against the cab side of the bed. It has to fold under, which leaves some gaps and keeps it from sealing tight. I tested it in the rain - drove around and let it sit at different angles. A little water did get in along that cab-side edge, but nothing major. I’m planning to add some foam rubber seal, and I’m confident that’ll solve it. Last night I finally got to camp in it for the first time, and it was fantastic! I also tried my Napier truck bed extension tent with it. Fit was good, though if it rains I’ll need to figure out a way to seal that connection better. For now, I just wanted to see if it would even work, and it does. Overall? Very happy with it.
Easy to set up and install. I feel like the flaps could be made to look better around the rear window but other than that I have no complaints. Love the sturdienes of the roof and the D rings.
Inventoried and test fitted the Mid-Short HR MR53 and disassembled and stored until mid MAY '26 when I'll put it back on and go on a 4-days/3-nights camping either at 11-mile reservoir or Tarryall reservoir, both located in Colorado. Will provide before, during & after pictures then. I plan to place a small diameter swimming noodle on the top and sides of the rear cab (between the rear cab and the front of the topper). Will also get a couple of balloons and and set them on the bottom two front corners of the topper & blow them up as the topper is not fully sealed (is the reason for the 4-stars), and will update when I return from my camping trip.
The camper is working out great. Once I modified the front rain skirt and tucked the side skirts under the camper. 2000 miles to Colorada and back with no issues. I do have some water pentitration, but I expected that. Thanks. PS: you may want to have specific installation instructions for the the Honda Ridgeline.
It sure makes travel a bit easier. I can put more in the back. And using it to sleep in the back of my truck.
