I rarely give reviews, however this is a one that I feel compelled to submit. As an avid outdoorsman, this has been one of my favorite investments. I am coming on three years of owning my topper and it has been perfect. It is easy to put on and take of and store. (it takes me a little longer that 20 minutes because I am particular, but I am fine with that). I got a rechargeable operated airpump that does the inflating and deflating for me. Great extra purchase
When I started looking for topper options I was leaning towards a soft topper. I am so glad I went with Flated. The Soft toppers (IMO) look bad. And from speaking with friends that have them, they leak after time and are a pain to take off. I was nervous about the flated looking a little funny, but at the end of the day as long as it serves it's purpose you can just take it off so who cares. When I put it on the first time I was surprised how good it actually looked on my 2021 F150. I tuck the back window into the tailgate to keep it more flush and not cover my camera. never had an issue with it.
For those worried about durability with an inflatable topper, this is the same material they make whitewater rafts out of... its tough and durable. I have had this topper up at 12k ft and down to 2500 feet in the same week. I've had it in well below freezing temps and in 100+ degree temps. I sometimes leave it on for 6 months, other times a week. I have never experienced any significant loss of air or needed to re inflate other than for a peace of mind inflate during a 6 month stretch. I've done thousands of highway miles, back country thick roads and city driving. This thing has handled it all with no problem or issues.
I often sleep in the back of my truck or store my gear so keeping the bed dry is crucial. I have never had water get in outside of maybe one or two drops from sideways rain. Even when I have gone through car washes, minimal water is able to get in. I trust this enough to sleep in it in heavy rain and snow consistently.
As for dust, any topper or toneau cover is going to let some dust in. There are openings in the beds that allow water to drain that is the reason behind this. I have not noticed an abundance of dirt coming in from this topper.
For those wondering about security, lets be real, if someone wants something out of your truck bed it doesn't matter what topper you have, they will figure out a way in. However, Flated has very dark side and back windows that will hide the contents.
Last weekend I was out in the backcountry for a few days and when I came back I thought someone had tried to break in to my topper since as you can see in the pictures the lower material on the back was torn. However nothing was taken from my truck bed. Upon further review I found puncture marks and what looked like claw marks on the back window. A bear had tried to get into my topper.
The topper actually kept him out! (See last picture)
The customer service at this company is unreal. They reply usually within a day and have always helped me figure things out and even sent me some complimentary items when I've needed help with set up to ensure I am happy with their product.
If you're debating getting a topper, I can tell you, you won't be disappointed with a Flated.
Sorry no pics yet,
But so far it's great! My truck bed and tailgate are a little odd. "2010 dodge ram 1500 quad cab"But still fits good. I might be going with the upgraded rear window at some point. The velcro system for the tailgate did not work correctly for my truck. So I ended up using small screws with washers to secure the velcro. My truck is 16 years old with 165,000 miles on it, so I'm not to worried about a few screws/holes in tailgate. But I could see where it might be a problem for someone with a newer truck.
Purchased for occasional use on my Chevy Silverado when I go camping or need to haul some stuff that I want enclosed (out of rain / sun).
So far, Iām really happy with my Flated Camper for my truck. Setup was surprisingly easyāit inflated quickly, and I had it ready to use without much hassle. I also had a few questions along the way, and Flatedās customer support was excellentāquick, helpful, and genuinely interested in making sure I had everything figured out.
One of my favorite features of the cap is that its light weight. Itās easy enough for me to lift off the truck when I donāt need it and store it in the garage, rather than needing multiple people or special equipment. Also I can leave on my tonneau cover rails making it a fast install / removal. That makes it much more practical than a traditional hard camper shell for me.
Overall, I feel itās a well-designed, lightweight, versatile camper that works great for what I need and my truck. The combination of easy setup, good customer support, and the ability to easily remove and store it makes it a great fit for how I use my truck.
Got it to keep things dry in a cross country trip to move my son. Worked great. Easy to take it off and lean it up against the wall when I needed to haul a washer and dryer set, and then put it back on when done. Very happy with it. Only downfall is the strap to hold the door flap tight. It moves around on the Ram and I have to adjust it all the time. Going to try some Alien tape to hold it in place until I take it off.
It's a good buy.
This inflatable truck topper is perfect for my scenario. That is sometimes I need to be able to carry large things like a kayak or canoe on top of the truck and for that I have a ladder rack. Other times, I might want to go camping with my pets in the back of the truck and so itās really easy to switch out between the ladder rack and the topper.
Super easy inflate and figure out the orientation and install onto the truck. I have now taken it more than 2400 miles and Iāve not felt like I should be worried at all about the security of the topper.
I love it! I can do it all by myself from start to finish! I camped last weekend and a wicked thunderstorm rolled through and not one drop of rain made its way inside! Iām a fan š
Wow! What a really cool truck topper. Took us a few hours as we had to take off an old bed cover, and we took our time, but we love this topper! We are moving and wanted to be able to take up some more stuff with us and keep it dry. We had a torrential rain today in South Florida and the inside of the truck stayed 98% DRY! Just a few drops in one corner.
We ordered the cap in desperation hoping it would fit our needs without costing thousands of dollars. We show poultry and needed a cap to get them to the State fair where they wouldn't cook in an open truck bed. We tow a camper and needed the cap for the birds safety. It has done everything we could have asked for and more. It was way cooler than expected in the bed (we keep a thermometer with a digital readout when we travel). The airflow was good and when it rained we could quickly pull over and install the windows. The fact we don't need a lift in the garage and can stow it in the camper has made our day. It is way tougher than the pictures give it credit and it like its looks way better than a basic cap. We love it and wish we would have found it sooner!
Really a nice solution for someone who doesnāt want a cap on all the time. Great build quality. Instructions a little lacking but overall really pretty easy.
Topper is a one man install in about 30 mins. I added a seal kit around the tailgate to keep the dust out and paint protective film under the back window Velcro strap.
Held up great on our 24+ hours on the road to and from Canada from the US. Waiting urgently for the MR56 AIR-WINDOW to come back into stock. Please Hurry! :)
Inflated quickly and fits my ā24 Ram 1500 (5ā7ā bed) like a glove! From tote bag to strapped down and ready to roll in about a half hour, by myself. The HD Velcro overlaps are well thought out and should be rainproof running down the road. I own a couple of inflatable āzodiacā type dive boats and my Flated topper seems to be the same super tough material. If you plan to inflate/deflate multiple times a year, Iād suggest buying an electric pump like the one sold by Flated. It takes some energy to manually inflate to 5-8psi. Looks great and Iām excited to get it out on the hunt this year!
Was easy to put together and blown up. Also was easy to put on and attach to my truck. I drove around some with it on to make sure it wasn't going to fly off and it did great. I then took it on a small highway trip and it was awesome. It's secure and doesn't move around and kept out the rain. Then I took it on a six hour roadtrip to the beach and a six hour trip home. The top did great and kept out the rain and was much less of a pain to pack because I didn't have to try to play Tetris stacking everything in the bed to keep it under the bed cover like I usually did. It was a good purchase and I hope it holds up for years to come as it wasn't cheap.
Took me about 30 minutes to inflate and install the first time. That same day I drove 13 hours to Sidney MT and drove through a powerful rain storm and everything in the truck bed stayed dry. I would suggest doing something to accommodate the backup camera
I love my topper!!!!! So does my dog! And I love this team! They have all gone above and beyond to make sure we are happy with our purchase. From the overland expo to Joe in customer service. Itās refreshing to have a company that cares about their customers!
Just got this a few days ago. So far, I have nothing to complain about. I have had other soft tops in the past that aren't even close to this good. I can't wait to be able to order the upgrade air window for the back.
2021 Ram 1500
Loving it so far! Great look, easy to set up and take down, and seems rock solid. Highly recommend if you want a shell at times and an open bed during others.
What a great product very easy to blow up less than 10 minutes to put together and put on. I love it folder and put it away when I need it. Just blow it back up and put it back on very durable. Canāt stand enough good things about it. I highly recommend it in a great price.
I have not given it the full shake down, but I've done a test install and a drive down the highway, very impressed with the quality and build. It looks like it will be perfect for my needs
Impressed! I needed a camper shell but do not need it all of the time. Excellent choice in Flated ! Works like a champ, sturdy, and leak proof. Glad I purchased it!
I purchased a FLATED air topper for our hunting trip to North Dakota this September. We traveled 2700 miles total in our trip. During this time, we encountered rain, sleet, 30 degrees up to 60-degree temperatures and up to 20mph winds. The FLATED topper worked incredibly well. It kept our belongings dry and dust free. The six straps used to hold it down never failed, even in the higher wind speeds. We traveled down the road as fast as 85mph and never had a single issue. We did not apply the tape on the tailgate to hold down the back flap and had no problems with dust or rain without it.
I am very satisfied with the FLATED air topper and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a sharp looking, lightweight, economical topper. To "top" it off, I removed the FLATED air topper when I got home, released the air, folded it up in its carry bag, and put it on a shelf in my garage.
I'm thoroughly please with the convenience and use of the FLATED air topper. It is a durable, lightweight alternative to other toppers.
Finally pulled the trigger on a FLATED topper before a Wyoming elk hunt, and couldn't be happier. While the fit is not perfect, it kept the dust and rain off of our gear and rode snug on the 18 hour trip, while holding up great through rough mountain terrain. The ability to take it off and store it between adventures is a huge plus.
