Easy to set up. Took the advice of another buyer on YouTube and installed a strip of Velcro on the tailgate instead of using the strap.
Contacted customer service after purchase to ask about keeping it on year-round. I live in the Cascade Mountains and don't have a garage. I was assured no problem.
Did have to ask AI chat about the rain skirt, which went in, not out. We cut pizza slices on each corner to help it lay flat
Rain is headed here this week so that will be the next test!
Just used our Flated for a summer vacation on our Maverick! The extra capacity was wonderful and the fit is good enough to be great! Put the tonneau back on and will pack up the Flated until the next vacation.
The FLATED camper top for our Ford Maverick is great! Took about 10 minutes to set up and put on, and we were going pretty slow. Super easy setup, so far it's been rock solid! Our dog loves hanging out back there, she sticks her head out of the side windows as we go down the road. Only have two things I would change: 1) the straps that connect the top to the truck are all overly long. I understand why, no problem, and we could always cut them, but they should come with some way to roll them up like modern rucksacks do. I can put rubber bands on them or cut / burn them but I shouldn't have to do that with a 1500.00 product. 2) the velcro strap that goes around the tailgate is very cheap and janky looking. Looks like something that would come with a cheap Amazon or Temu product, not something that again cost 1500.00. I would find a better solution; the strap also easily slides down and gets stuck in the cutouts of our Maverick tailgate, so eventually they will definitely fray and break. When I saw the velcro strap in an online review I immediately wanted my wife to purchase a different top for her truck, but to her it wasn't a deal breaker. It works, it's just feels more like a universal car product you'd see on a Walmart shelf than something that costs so much. Other than those minor things we are very happy with the topper, and for our Ford I don't think there's a better product on the market. Being able to take it off and throw it under the backseat if needed is great, and IMO it's actually stronger than a Softtopper or something similar.
I LOVE my Flated. I have already gone camping 3 times in 2 weeks and I am going again this weekend. I use a Dac tent with the tailgate down. It’s the perfect solution for a small Ford Maverick fast camper option. What a wonderful experience so far!! So happy with it!!
Solid topper. Wish you made an extension that extended over the gate when it's down because I know it would be a good product. Till then I'll just DIY.
Fast shipping great packaging.Installed easily seems really durable took the picture while the windows were warming up for install tested in heavy winds didnt move a bit and didnt even realize it was there great product
Ha! Where Do I Begin? This Top is Awesome! I have people ask Me Daily about my Flated Top. It is Easy to Inflate and install. It Easy to Deflate and store away! It helps keep my tools dry and Out of site. Even though it is not a lockable top it does provide some security. I don't leave tools in overnight. On the road it seems I get better gas mileage when it is on. I had Zero Problems in the Noreaster We had here recently on the East Coast.
5 PLUS STARS 🌟
I got the air topper for my Maverick. It’s easy to blow up with the battery powered pump (which I purchased and also use for paddle boards, love that too). Camped in it, felt pretty safe actually. Drove it on a 1500 mile trip up to 85 mph and it stayed on well. Kinda adds a little wind resistance at high speeds or high winds, like driving an SUV instead of a truck. I would guess because of the added surface area. But overall, I’m impressed. It definitely has a… look, but I like how light it is. And it feels pretty solid, I dragged it on the ground a little, smashed it in to my truck a bit and dropped it on the ground (all while trying to put it on in my garage) and it still seems fine. Will probably have to rig up some sort of more secure system for the zippers in the future, that’s the only thing I’m slightly worried about.
Exactly as promised, our dog totally enjoyed his six hour trip in it. It was a breeze to build it and put it on the truck, we have been leaving it inflated in our garage for the short trips. Just the right product that we were looking for for our Rivian.
I love it! My topper is exactly as described. Initial installation was super easy and fast, probably 30 minutes or less. The only minor issue is that the plastic molding on the top of my Maverick bed keeps the topper from sealing tight in the front corners. I just picked up some foam rubber and put it in those areas to seal it up. I've also taken it off and put it back on. Again just as easy as described. It looks like I might lose a mile or two per gallon on my gas mileage but I'm not sure yet. Overall it's awesome and I'm looking forward to putting it through it's paces!
Starting off with how well the topper was packaged. It has been very easy to pump up & get on the truck myself. I live in Florida and the Flated has maintained its shape in the heat & storms.
The only 2 drawbacks are that the Velcro strap to hold down rear window could use a better design and the rear window does not have a screen. I’m going to purchase an additional product to open up the back with a screen. I own a Ford Maverick and the truck bed length is short. Having tailgate down will add more leg room.
Overall, I am very pleased with my Flated truck cap. Highly recommend for the cost, easy setup, durability and I like how it fits my truck.
This is exactly what I needed for long road trips with the dogs. The fit is good but the Maverick doesn’t have a gap between the cab and bed. The cover flap just sits there and doesn’t overlap like it was designed to do. Overall very happy and would buy again.
The Flated Air Topper was just the ticket for my Maverick Hybrid. I wanted to continue the theme of high MPG and the Topper weighs so little I can lift it alone. I also didn't want to take up a portion of the driveway when I took a shell off. With Flated I can simply deflate and store it in the garage.
The huge sell was being able to tie surfboards to the top. I'm heading out for a camp trip and I think all will be well, though I seen kayaks and canoes—but no log surfboards in the promos. Because the Ford Maverick Truck is still pretty rare I stop by car shows with it. Looking forward to sharing the added curiosity of the Air Topper!
After a long wait (probably about a month) following pre-order, my Flated topper finally came. I was thrilled to find that setup was intuitive, although I did watch the instructional video. It probably took about 20 minutes to inflate and put together. I've had it on now for about 2 weeks, can't seem to make myself take it off, I like it so much. It's held up very well, through highway driving and extreme heat (100+ F). Very light compared to other caps. If you're thinking about one of these, and reading this review, it's got my recommendation. It's definitely sturdy, keeping in mind that it's not designed to be a full time cap. I like the idea that it can be folded up and put away while not in use. Get one, you won't regret it.
Honestly have not put it on my truck yet but likely will next week. I took it out of the box and so far it looks great. I will post a picture when I put it on. Thanks
So far I am loving this topper! I appreciate the videos Flated sent me about sealing the topper to my Maverick and the helpful video about the tie-down straps. I really wanted to be able to transport my paddle board without having to declare it. I installed the topper myself, happy I can put it on and take it off by myself.
Relatively easy to put on and take off and is really light making installation a one person job which is great. It's nearly impossible to roll up after deflating though. Maybe because I left the windows on (watched a video later) but there's not much in the way of instructions to help figure out how to do this. Also one of the clips on the storage bag broke the first time we used it. The canopy is very functional, very little leakage when driving 70mph during a rainstorm.
It's amazing how solid an inflated top can feel. It was super easy to install and the cinch straps securely hold the top in place at highway speeds. I can recommend this enough for someone who only wants a cap on their truck occasionally.
Love my Air Topper. Would like to see some type of curtain connecting the back of my topper to the open tailgate for my Maverick. Since the Maverick is a very short bed this would allow a place for my feet to be closed in when I sleep.
It's very easy to inflate and goes much faster than was expecting with the manual pump. It's absolutely solid and super easy to install. I do love it and it's 100% the exact thing I was looking for. I have a neighbor with a Maverick as well and now he wants one!
Very easy to inflate with hand pump and installation was very easy. Only ? Was installing the tailgate strap which was answered in video. Makes it easy for snowbirds to take food and misc items back home.
Great truck cap solution for less than half the price of fiberglass. And it can be easily removed and stored. I also have a hard cover when needed but this gives a ton more covered cargo capacity. And Im surprised at how incredibly rigid it is. I have no worries about it's strength. Downside is pretty obvious, it cannot be locked to store item inside. And opening rear is a 2 hand process. But I think it's well worth the money. It comes with lots of attachment points and straps. However, I find it easier to hold the rear window open with a simple bungee cord as shown in the photos.
Topper vastly exceeded my expectations. Very easy to inflate and install. No noticeable road noise even at highway speeds, didn’t even move at all.
The dogs love being back there.
Drove from Chicago to Leslie, Arkansas…no dust got inside the bed at all. In comparison my brother in law’s Chevy Silverado had a tonneau cover that let in a lot of dust coming through the backroads.
Would recom this to anyone.
Videos were helpful for set up. Looks great on Maverick--now we need to see how well it keeps things dry during this stormy weekend. I wish that it had been sunny and warm the day of set up so that the windows would have smoothed out better. The rear window is not fitting quite correctly at present, so I am hoping that it will stretch out more over time, and if not, then we will need a new one which fits to the edge of all Velcro all around to be sent to us.
i must say it was an exceptional experience. This innovative device truly impressed me with its performance and versatility.
In terms of noise level, its surprisingly quiet.
