Every spring the surf industry gathers on the sand in Cardiff for Camp Shred, widely known as the world’s largest surfboard demo. Set just steps from the ocean at San Elijo State Beach, the weekend brings together surfers, brands, and beach lovers to try new gear and soak up the coastal vibe. This year, FLATED® once again returned for a full demo weekend, setting up camp with a truck full of our inflatable gear and ready to show people how it all works.
Co-founder Dan Watts brought his truck fully setup: a Chevrolet Colorado outfitted with the FLATED Air-Topper®, plus the Air-Carrier®, Air-Deck®, and Air-Storage systems. We also had our Air-Exec inflatable furniture on display, which quickly turned into the most comfortable seat in the house for people taking a break from the beach crowds. The idea was simple—show how easy it is to turn a truck into a flexible gear-hauling setup for surf trips, road trips, and everyday adventures.
The FLATED® booth stayed busy all weekend. Hundreds of people stopped by to check out the gear, ask questions, and see the products up close. It was especially cool meeting customers who already own FLATED® products and hearing how they’re using them—from surf trips up the coast to camping missions deep in the mountains. Events like this are always a great reminder of why we build what we build—and it was even better having all of the FLATED® founders together for the weekend.
To keep things fun, there was also a blackjack table where visitors could win raffle tickets for Air-Exec furniture. It added a little friendly competition to the booth and kept the steady stream of people coming through entertained. With the ocean in the background, boards being tested in the lineup, and a packed crowd all weekend, Camp Shred was the perfect place to connect with the surf community and show how well FLATED® gear makes any adventure even easier.
Camp Shred always brings things full circle for FLATED®. Long before starting the company, the founders met while working for Surftech and regularly attended surf demos like this throughout their time in the industry. Coming back years later with FLATED® means reconnecting with the familiar culture and faces that helped shape their journey.
