FLATED ROAD TRIPS! - TEXAS DIRT BIKE ADVENTURE - EPISODE 035

Texas Dirt Bike Adventure

Some road trips are all about the destination. Others are about the time spent getting there.

For Ken Hoeve, co-founder of FLATED®, this trip to Texas was a little bit of both. With his two sons loaded up and a dirt bike qualifier on the schedule, the crew hit the road for a weekend of racing, family time, and a real-world test of the newest FLATED® Air-Topper® Fleet.

Heading South

With bikes, gear, tools, and supplies packed into the truck, Ken and his boys pointed the truck toward Texas and started the long drive south.

Of course, no Texas road trip is complete without a stop at Buc-ee's.

The crew stocked up on road trip essentials, grabbed some snacks, and stretched their legs before getting back on the highway. It was the perfect way to break up the drive before arriving at the race venue.

Rain Delays and Race Day Challenges

When they finally reached the track, the weather wasn't exactly cooperating.

Rain moved into the area and brought a series of delays, leaving riders, families, and crews waiting for conditions to improve. While nobody loves sitting around waiting for the weather to clear, it provided the perfect opportunity to see how the Air-Topper® Fleet would perform in less-than-ideal conditions.

As rain continued to fall, all of the bikes, riding gear, tools, and equipment stayed protected inside the topper. Instead of scrambling to cover gear or worrying about wet equipment, everything remained dry and organized while they waited for racing to begin.

A Real-World Test for the Air-Topper® Fleet

The Air-Topper® Fleet was designed for people who depend on their gear every day, and this trip became a perfect example of why.

Whether hauling race equipment, work tools, camping gear, or outdoor equipment, keeping everything protected from the elements is critical. Throughout the storm delays, the topper did exactly what it was designed to do—keep valuable gear secure, dry, and ready to go when needed.

There's no better product test than using it during a real adventure, and Texas provided plenty of opportunities.

Finally, It's Time to Race

Once the weather cleared, the focus shifted back to the track.

Ken spent the day watching his sons compete, cheering them on, and enjoying everything that comes with race weekends. Between the excitement of competition and the camaraderie of the dirt bike community, it was a reminder of why these trips are worth making.

While the qualifier was the reason for the trip, the time spent together on the road ended up being just as memorable.

More Than Just a Race Weekend

Like many FLATED Roadtrip! adventures, this trip wasn't just about one destination.

It was about loading up the truck, hitting the highway, stopping at places like Buc-ee's, overcoming unexpected weather, and making memories along the way. It was also a chance to see the newest Air-Topper® Fleet perform exactly as intended—handling rain, protecting gear, and making life on the road a little easier.
